Bugs Friend

The Bug with his friend D on Christmas day!

The snow is pretty much melted. there are patches in the ivy behind our apartments and the big piles are still in the parking lot. For as horrible as it was it's sad to see it gone. I am glad I can travel around town.

Today is a day for making bee and porter stew, cheesy muffins and working on the bug napping on his own.

Someone had fun

The little bug was able to open some presents. If we started it for him he would grab onto the paper and pull.

It took a long time to open all the gifts with eating, resting and nappy changing.

Something New

My friend Natalie introduced me to this new way of posting.

It says if a Blog is a way of journaling, Tumblr is like scrapbooking.

I hope to capture photos in the early morning hours when most people are sleeping.

With Ben I never know when I will be up or what I will be doing. This will be a way of showing you what I might see when I'm spending mornings with my son.

Ben O'Clock

sorry the first photo is a repeat. I had to get started with a photo! Will start tomorrow!

what happened?

Josh was taking photos of the bug in his new hat and he didn't know the bug spit up until he had taken the photo and was looking at the picture... life with the bug.

It never fails if I change him he spits up all over his new outfit. Even if he hasn't eaten for housrs.

It's Elf'n bug

More Snow

I might have a snow day. They are going to make the call at 9am. It's been snowing the last couple hours and I- 84 is still closed from Troutdale to the Gorge. My work is 3 exits from Troutdale.

Yesterday I made pumpkin bread for the girls at work and I'm not sure if I will make it in this week to give it to them. I might have to stick it in the freezer. I had to have a little taste of it this morning to make sure it's good enough to share.

I've unthawed the hummer's food and turned on the porch light for him. He just flew into the slider window and is now sitting in the tree- probably thinking "what the nectar just happened?"

I have to say there's nothing that says Christmas more than a tin of cookies.

When we made holiday cookies growing up we would put them in tins and store the tins in the breeze way on top of the freezer. Schwan's used to have ice cream in tins for the holidays and we would save the tins for storing our holiday cookies and treats.

All this snow reminds me of winters at my Grandparents house. I grew up in the country and their farm sat on the corner of a hwy (a hwy like 99w). People would get caught in the snow and would walk up to the farm for help. There were a couple of times when the people would stay the night with us. I remember one time my Grandma and I were making donuts and a family got stuck and stayed the night with us.

Today would we be so welcoming to have strangers stay the night?

new look

what do you think?

Snow Day

No snow day for Josh. He was able to make it to work this morning- 4am. The CRV does really well in the snow. He stopped by and picked up the manager that was going to open the store and after getting there going out and getting 3 more people and bringing them to work.

The snow is so deep this morning that Miles could barely pee. He found a bush that had some leaves sticking out of the snow so he was able to go.

The snow has a crunchy layer on top- the freezing rain started early this morning.

The bug is down for his first nap. It's odd to have him go down for a nap. It's hard to know how long he will be asleep. I sit here thinking of all the things I should be doing but am scared to do anything because he could wake up any minute. He usually last about an hour and I'm sure as it gets more regular I might be able to shower!

I should lay back down and sleep more. It's hard once I'm up to lay back down. I've already had coffee and been out with the dog. My day starts any where from 4am to 5am. If I get used to going back to bed work days will be hard.

Miles likes nap time because then he gets a little extra snuggly time. He's curled up in the blanket next to me sleeping!

Today I'm going to try and make some pumpkin bread. If it works out I'm going to take some treats into work for the gals.

We are suppose to get 6-10 inches of snow and this time we might actually get that. Our local weather team likes to get excited and make a few snow flakes seem like a blizzard.

Right now I cannot see downtown it's a snowy winter wonderland.

I was smart and went to the grocery last night and am done with my holiday shopping. This Holiday season might be different than years past- we could have a white Christmas!

With nothing else to do with all this snow the Bug and I made some Christmas cookies... Easy Lemon cookies - basically a lemon cake mix and some powder sugar- and no bake chocolate oatmeal cookies.

I had to unthaw the hummingbird food again today.

Here's the bug in his snuggly fleece winter outfit. We only have 5 days left for him to wear his holiday outfits.

We were given this jumperoo. I thought he was to little for it but he seems to like it and do okay. He moves around some and holds onto the toys that are in front of him.

The Bug will be 16 weeks tomorrow. 4 months old... it's going fast. He's such a sweet little boy.

This week I did do a little knitting. I made the bug a winter hat. It's the baby's first hat pattern - made with organic cotton yarn.

it was super easy. Knit about 40 rows and its complete.

It would be fun to make him a little hat with a cable pattern. I will have to see if I can find a pattern. I have an adult pattern and tried to alter it to fit a baby but it was to big and ended up being the size to fit a 5 year old.

This morning I get to spend with the bug so while he was napping (yes while he was napping- his papa worked all week on getting him to nap by himself and it worked) I made chili and cheesy muffins... yum!

Here's our little hummingbird visitor. Sunday it was so cold his food froze so I would have to warm it up through out the day. This was around 5pm and he was still hanging out on the feeder.

Peas on Earth- sidways- oops didn't turn photo before posting- Thanks for the Tee shirt Grammy Sammy!

More Snow...

um Mom could you get that camara out of my face! Really he's into looking at his hand. He holds the same one out in front of him while he other one is in his mouth.

We have a gas fireplace. We never got a gas account so we don't use it. I miss having a fireplace mantel. I had magnets with hooks so I hung Ben and Miles christmas stockings on the fireplace.

Trying to do tummy time. He doesn't really like it and fusses after a few minutes. A friends mom suggested using the boppie- it worked for a little bit.

gingerbread Cookies

Last weekend Ben and I made Gingerbread Cookies. Chocolate Gingerbread. They were very tasty.

It's a bit blurry but look at all those curls

and then there's none!

someone's wearing big boy shoes... there is room around the toes for some growing. I had a pair that were 0-6 months and they are to small. He never wore them so I am going to see if I can exchange them.

hanging out watching cartoons. He likes to watch the disney channel. I have all the morning shows down and can sing along even when they are not on!

Sunday Football

Whose ready for some football?

Miles likes being on top of his crate instead of in it....

First time in his high-chair.... not ready for food yet but ready for something different to hang out in!

He loves the bug that's on his tray. We have one in the house and one in the car. It's wings crinkle and he likes to put them in his mouth. I can hear him playing with it when I'm in the other room.

Happy Thanksgiving Family and Friends!

Waiting for the Macy's parade to start.

New LL Bean Bear Fleece

Thursday, November 20, 2008

I was trying to upload the above photo onto the computer and I had the little bug in his crib. I had laid this little bunny blanket over his belly (see next photo). I checked on him real quick and he had the whole nose of the bunny in his mouth. He is really into putting things into his mouth. His fist are his favorite. He seems to think while he's eating he can have at least one fist in his mouth as well.

He just lays in his cribs, talks and cuddles the little blanket. Very sweet!

This was my first week back to work. I'm doing part time for the month of November. I'm home in the A.M. with the Bug and Josh is home in the P.M. Monday was a little tough for both the Bug and Papa. It was the first time I left him for more than a short bit so it was stressful for me as well. I never wanted to get home so fast in my life! Tuesday and the rest of the week went a lot better.

You think people don't talk about what we just went through or they do and you just don't listen until you are a parent yourself.

The Bug is pretty routine. The challenge is figuring out his routine!

We squeezed a bath in... He loves his organic bath towel! It makes his other bath towels feel like boiled wool.

He's a little teddy bear... a serious bear!
