More History

I was so excited this morning when I checked my email. One of my relatives I contacted emailed me back. We are going to share some photos and info once I have the little guy and am settled.

He thinks he met my grandpa when my grandpa was visiting his grandpa and grandma. I asked where they lived so I can try and recall my grandpa talking about them. I think it's going to be CA.

Here's what I think is my grandparents engagement photo. It was taken November 6th, 1948. It won't let me download the photo. Why does blogger do this to me. It's a pdf of a photo- why won't it work?

I will try later.

Family History

I was sitting here today with nothing much else to do but wait and I started thinking about my family history. I had done a family tree for a class but did not keep it. It might be in a tote in the closet, but I'm in no condition to go looking through a bunch of totes stacked from floor to ceiling.

I went to some of those Geneology websites and didn't get very far. I thought of trying to contact my Grandpa's sisters family. I found one of her son's who restores barns and has his own business. From there I decided to type in my Grandpa's sisters name and I found this amazing website all about my Grandpa's family. The Zeckzer Family Tree at the bottom is about my side of the family. There were two links on this gals website that had some of the same info and some new.

I emailed all 3 to see if they will respond. One email was kicked back and I'm still waiting to see if the other two will respond. It was so weird to see my family on the internet. I could not believe how much info I found out. I didn't have much luck finding anything on my Grandma's side. I guess it's a start

As for the photo at the top. The man on the far right with the bow tie is my Great Grandpa Otto and the two older people in the front row are his parents Ferdinand and Wilhelmina and the rest are his brother's and sisters.

I am still amazed I found this!

Dreams Don't Come True

Nothing's happening! I thought for sure my dreams were telling me something.

I was laughing yesterday because I bought a bunch of stuff at the farmers market and I stated that I would probably go into labor that night.

I guess I have some cooking to do today.

I sampled so many peaches at the market. They were amazing. Picked while ripe so I didn't have to bring them home and put them in a brown bag. I have eaten two already this morning.

Miles really likes peaches. He's funny though if they aren't ripe enough he won't eat them. When you give him something he doesn't like he spits it out immediately. You would think a dog would eat anything. Not this picky guy.

I had a few dreams last night that I was in labor.

Today I felt a little different. Not sure if they are contractions or not- feel more like cramps. Wondering if it's getting close?

It's hard to know what you are feeling when you have never felt something before. Everyone says you will know but how?

Here's some photos from our shower...

No Baby

Today's suppose to be the day. I think it's going to come and go.

Some one else will have today as their birthday....
The last elephant to be born at the OR zoo was in labor all day yesterday and was suppose to have her baby this morning. I haven't checked to see if it's happened yet. This will be the 28th baby elephant born at the OR zoo.

She was born 14 years ago and one of the elephants that was at her birth (I think her name is summer) is with her while she is in labor. They rub their trunks on her belly

The other girl elephants are called Aunties and they will help take care of the baby once it's born.

How sweet!

I checked out the Oregon Zoo website and the baby was born this afternoon- A Boy!

I finished the sweater.

Now I have to wet it down and get it to lie flat so I can sew the pieces together. Hope to do that by tomorrow and will have a photo to prove it.

Knit Bug

Last night I was bit by the knitting bug.

As I sat in bed watching the olympics a small bag with an almost finished sweater sat looking at me from the bedside table.

Back in February I started a sweater for Ben. I have the body done and had started on one of the sleeves. I decided I had better get it out and try and finish. I was able to complete the first sleeve in about a hour and am going to work on the second sleeve as soon as I'm done with this post.

It doesn't take very long when all you are working with is 40 stitches and have to knit 5 1/2 inches before the sleeve is complete.

That's the joy of knitting baby clothes. You can wrap a project up pretty quick if you just do it and don't leave it sitting in a bag for 6 months.

Sad Movie

If you want to sit around and have a good cry I suggest renting P.S. I love you.

It was a good movie but wow did it make me cry. Maybe I'm to emotional right now to have watched it. I thought of stopping it a few times but I couldn't because I had to see what happened next.

I should stick to comedy until this little guy gets here!

We'll See

I go to the doc today. Still no false contractions. I actually feel pretty good.

I am ready to not have a big belly, to lay on my stomach. I cannot imagine being on my stomach ever again. I feel that I will always have this belly and it will be impossible.

I think I was lucky and had a pretty easy pregnancy. If you would have asked me that the first 3 months I would have said something totally different. The first 3 months were tough.

Over all it's odd to think that any day now I won't be pregnant anymore. I won't feel him moving around in there, won't wonder what he looks like, won't wonder what his personality will be like- he will be here!

Today is going to be wonderful.

Started out with a bit of thunder and is only going to be around 75 degrees. If the sun came out for a little bit would make it even better but I will take the gloom since I complained so much about the hot hot weather that just left us.

We are going to a movie today. I think I'm going to try and pack in as many movies as I can this week. I might have to sneak in treats because if I see all the movies I want this week I will have gone over my treat budget after the first movie.

Made it through the hot day yesterday. Today is suppose to be 93 degrees which really how much different can that be from 100? It's almost 10am and it's cloudy. Maybe the 70 degree weather that is suppose to hit tomorrow will be early.

I feel odd about not going to work tomorrow. Today is still okay because it's the weekend.

I have made plans to see some movies next week and visit a few friends. Other than that it's just going to be about waiting. I cannot believe the little guy could come any day. I got a bit emotional this morning. I am ready for him but at the same time I'm not ready for him. Everyone says I will be fine I'm a natural but I've never had a baby of my own. I might just be a natural with other peoples babies.

On a funny note...
I'm being mooned right now by a squirrel. He is in the tree outside the window with his bum facing me flicking his tail vigorously like a flag. He's checking something out down below and doesn't seem to happy about what it is. He has the skinniest tail. Now he's gone. Just like that I look up and he's gone!

Headed off to Multnomah Village Days!

It's going to be hot so I need to make sure to take it easy.

Maybe tonight I will have to visit the pool if it's not to crowded.

One week to go if he arrives on his due date!

Any quesses to when the little guy will decide to have his birthday?

Thursday/ Friday

Melting Hot!

Today was my last day at work. I punched out a little after 1pm but it took me about a half hour to get out of there. Even though I have been counting down the days it was hard to leave.

I know if I go past my due date I will feel guilty for not working longer.

This will be the longest time I have went with out working since I started working when I was 14.

Dinner tonight with gals from work. Thai food in the Park Blocks.

A look ahead- Saturday- Multnomah Village Days!

Tuesday, August 12, 2008

Went to the doctor and she said she would see me next week if not before. He's sitting very low so maybe things will happen all of a sudden.

I haven't had any false contractions. Yesterday I did a lot at work. It was a busy day so I was up and down the stairs a lot. By the end of the day my stomach was sore but not sore like contractions.

I am hoping I can make it through the week. It seems by the end of the day I am really tired and am ready to rest.

Maybe my vacation will start sooner.

3 days to go!

The first day of my last week of work for awhile.

What am I going to do with my time until baby B decides to make an appearance?

Baby B

Finally I am able to upload some photos. here's the one from the other day.

No I'm not having twins. I know I look like I'm about to burst but we still have a couple of weeks to go.

We had a gift certificate for L.L. Bean so I got some new slippers for the hospital and had some money left over so I thought little B needed his first personalized tote!

He's on his way to having quite the Red Sox collection.

Here's where he will sleep for the first few months of his life. This can attach to the bed or just be in the room with us. The changing pad will come out I just don't have any where for it right now. Still deciding if we want a changing table or a dresser that can be used as a changing table. We might want to decide soon!

A quick photo of the deck.

big belly

Here's how it's look'n

well blogger won't let me upload the photos. I am going to walk Miles and try again when I get back! Sorry!

Walked Miles and still not able to download photos. I think there is something going on. When I tried to log back in it told me I needed to enable the java so I could accept cookies. I didn't do anything with my computer in the last 1/2 hour. I tried again and was able to get into my account but still cannot upload photos.

Will try later.

On a good note Josh found some blueberry bushes in our complex and when I walk Miles we get to stop by and have a little snack. Tomorrow I'm going to try and get up early and bring a bowl along and pick enough for breakfast. I cannot believe there are still berries. Do the people that live by them have tunnel vision?

3 weeks

It could acutally be any day now up to 5 weeks. My due date is August 23rd and I have finally hit the 37th week. The week that if the baby comes all will be okay. They say most first time moms are two weeks late- so here I sit with the 23rd happily cirlced on the calendar and I could actually have to wait an additional 2 weeks. 5 weeks doesn't sound that great!

Yesterday I think the whole nesting thing kicked in. It's a hard thing to go through because I want to do all these things that I really cannot do. Like go through all these totes in the closet that are stacked to the ceiling. I cannot get in there and lift them out and go through them. Rearrange the flower pots on the deck... I did do some but had to have Josh help. Thoughts of rearranging the living room are quickly erased as I think I cannot move the sofa by myself.

I want to do a bunch of stuff but physcially cannot do it. I am the type of person that will not wait for someone to help me or do it for me. They are never avaialble when I want to do it and I am not going to wait. It's been a bit tough at work. I want to pick up the case of wine so bad and carry it to the customers car or to the front lobby but I have to go find someone and have them help me carry it. It's going to be fun getting back to my old self once this little guy is out.

I started packing my suitcase and have the little guys bag all ready to go, except that I keep changing out the outfit I want him to come home in. Like it matters but there always seems to be a cuter one that is just waiting to be chosen as the one to be worn home!

Elmo and Big Bird will not be going to the hospital!

I hope to have a new belly shot and maybe the last belly shot soon. Yesterday I didn't not feel up for a photo. Maybe today?
