He's a Gnome

Kick'n it Gnome Style

It took me all day to make this little hat... I only knitted while the bug was napping.
If I would have sat down and did it start to finish I imagine it would have taken about an hour. It's so easy and fun.

It's suppose to have ear flaps and pom poms. I might do the ear flaps tomorrow in a light green color. Not sure I'm kind of liking it how it is.

The pattern said it fit a 16" to 17" head... I think mine ended up a little bigger. The bugs head was that size when he was born.

Little water bug... he loves floating in the water. I think in a month or so we are going to take him the community center and go swimming.

Me and the Bug post bath!

I'm loving our new iPhoto. Either it's new or I didn't use it before but the enhance button totally erases everything. I got rid of some wrinkles! I'm liking it!

Thanks Nana

I like all the stamps on the package! I think I can save some for my stamp collection!

Mama and Papa say thanks for the syrup!

New Do!

(sorry for the blurry photo)

Around Ben turning 4 months old my hair started falling out and continues to fall out. It's every where. When I shower all the hair left in the tub you would think I was going bald.... yikes.

Since it's longer and falling out all I do is pull it back into a pony tail. What I seem to do any time my hair gets long enough to pull back.

I decided I needed a shorter cut. Going back to my old stand by- chin length bob- I put some sass into it by going a bit longer in the front!

As for the Bugs hair we have not decided what to do with it?

Today

Today was the kind of day where I just wanted to lay my head in the laps of the Indigo Girls and have them stroke my hair and tell me every things going to be okay!

New Apple

I have been so busy and have been using my laptop that I forgot to say we got a new iMac last weekend.

At first we were going to get a notebook. After much debate we decided to go with the iMac- more computer for less money and when would we really need to leave the house with the computer. I can barley make myself leave the house let alone with a computer.

Today is the first chance i had to play around with it. It has a web camera so if there is anyone out there with a web camera we can chat in person. I am not sure how it works. I signed into iChat with my google account. I think we have to wait until we have our wireless internet set up before we can actually chat with anyone. That happens on Friday.

We are slowly moving our files over from the eMac. It seems so old and slow after being on the new computer.

What I like most about the new computer is the key board. It is not even a half inch thick and the keys are barely raised off the key board. It's a lot of fun to type on.

The iPhoto has some really neat new features. I can erase all of my blemishes. If I could just add make up and remove some gray hairs it would be out of this world cool.

Today I hope to accomplish taking some fun photos of the bug. A friend of mine every year (I think every year) takes a photo of her girl in a white oxford shirt. It's been fun to see the changes. I want to do that with the Bug and have taken one photo so far. He was just a month old. I want to do it a couple times before he turns 1 and then I will do it once a year. Probably around his birthday.

I have seen people take photos of their children by a tree in their yard. Moving around as much as we do makes that impossible.

I recently found some new blogs to follow- I will update my list so you can check them out. It's amazing all the creativity out there. It makes me wish I was more creative. It's very inspiring!

Big Boy Chair

I have been wanting to get the Bug one of these chairs and found one yesterday at a consignment shop.
He seems to dig it.... minutes after I took these photos he filled his pants.

I guess it's broken in.

They make the same type of thing to go on a toilet for potty training... maybe he's ahead of the game?

Messing around with the camera- trying to get the perfect shot of the two of us.
They always seem to be blurry but the background always is clear.

Oats

Having the Breakfast of Champions

I have been worried about my milk supply and have been doing some research. They say eating oatmeal will help. Figure it's worth trying. The little guy is almost 5 months and will be starting cereal here in the next month.

They say BMilk or Formula will be his main source of food until he reaches 9 months and eats 3 meals a day.

Here's what the Bug thinks of it.... (look at those cute gummies)

I am hoping not to have to suppliment formula but the more I worry about it the less millk I'm producing.

Lets keep our fingers crossed that oatmeal works or pray for a miracale that I will stop being a PollyAnna about it!

Stamps

I thought it would be fun for Ben to collect stamps. I know he's only 5 months old and too little to collect on his own so he will have to leave it up to me for a bit.

I was a bit obsessive about it and have calmed down a little because there are only so many stamps I can buy at one time.

Mid January they released the second stamp in a series of - Celebrating Lunar New Year!
2008- Year of the Rat
2009- Year of the Ox

I was able to find a sheet of the rat so Ben's collection starts with his birth year and his Chinese sign.

Another stamp I'm excited about is of Michigan...

"On October 2, 2008, in Empire, Michigan, at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, the Postal Service™ issued 42–cent Nature of America: Great Lakes Dunes commemorative stamps in 10 designs. The stamps and souvenir sheet were designed by Ethel Kessler of Bethesda, Maryland."

Being I'm from Michigan I figured this was a had to have for his collection.

Since we are currently living in Oregon I knew he had to have this for his collection...

"On January 14, 2009, in Portland, Oregon, the Postal Service™ will issue a 42–cent, Oregon Statehood stamp, designed by Derry Noyes of Washington, DC."

A Maine (Papa's home state) stamp will be nice. I see they issued a State of Maine stamp in the past. If we can find one it would be perfect.

I am not sure which direction his collection will go.... I figure if I start with some basics when he's ready or if he wants to continue the collection he can go where he wants with it.

Yarn Outage

This weekend I was in the mood for a light knitting project. I cannot get into anything to complicated with the Bug needing me so often.

I have a hat pattern that I thought of making but when I went to my yarn stash I found that I had nothing that would work for the hat.

There was a time a while back when I would buy random yarn because it was on sale. No ideas of what I would use it for- I just saw SALE and went for it.

The other thing is I have left over yarn from projects past... what to do with that?

It's always a gamble when buying yarn- even if the project says how many skeins you will need there is the chance you will need more so you buy a little extra and the cycle starts all over again!

I have vowed to only buy yarn as needed for projects and to stick to the pattern!

I hope I don't see any SALE signs soon!

Yes that's Drool

I can't get enough photos of him on his belly

There haven't been photos for a while because I wasn't able to get onto the internet with my laptop and with the Bug napping in his room (where the computer is) there was no way to update.

Not sure what happened but now my laptop is able to connect to the internet. This should not be a problem in the near future we are going wireless. The cable guy is set to be here on the 30th. They are busy!

We are also going to be the new owners of an IMac. I think we are getting it today. We are going to make a desk area off from the kitchen so we can use it more and make the Bugs room more for him than a computer room.

so here's the latest... lots of drooling. I didn't realize he was drooling so much until I saw these photos! Wow!

Papa says he's into holding his own bottle. I don't see that because he is still nursing. He really likes his new book "Panda Bear Panda Bear What Do You See?" He holds onto it and brings it close to his face and looks at it. If you start reading him a book he's not into he squirms and makes a fuss. He doesn't do that with this book.

He's also into putting things over his face and acting like he's in trouble... like he can't breath... flailing his arms around like save me save me. And coughing when we are not looking at him. He stops once we look at him. We have a little boy that called wolf on our hands.

4 months

4 month photos... almost 5 months

He went from smashing his face into the blanket to doing this!
4 month check up was good- second round of shots. The same as the first set so not to worried.

weight 15lbs (50%) and height 25" (75%)

Next month we will try some rice cereal. Going to try and get as close to 6 months as we can before starting solids. They say the closer to 6 months the less likely he will be to have food allergies. Lets hope it's true.

Go Pirates!

I mean go Huskers!

We spent New Years Day with Friends watching the Gator Bowl! Those Huskers did it... they came from behind to win the game!

The bug says, "Pass me the bubbly, oops I mean the Sparkling Cider!"

Life is rough for a 4 month old!
