A visit to the library

A little someone went to the library for the first time today.

About a month after he was born the county library sent us a new book along with the application for a library card and 4 coupons for a free book when you visit the library 4 different times.

We went today and got the Bug his own library card and his first free book
"I Love Animals".

They also sent info on reading to your child. What to do with them at different stages of development.

With budget cuts and all that is happening in the world today I thought this was a great thing for the county to do.

3 years

I just realized that my blog was 3 years old last month.

My Freckled Friend got me started on this whole blogging thing and the next thing I know it's 3 years later.

I named my blog Perennial Knitter because I wanted to blog about gardening and knitting- two things that I enjoy to do. I felt that the title was perfect because I tend to knit in the winter, garden in the summer. Taking a break from each but always returning.

It has evolved over the years to include other hobbies or obsessions that take over my life and are worthy enough to make it as a blog post... these things tend to include...

wine and drinking wine
sewing
cooking
baking
Miles
Josh
Various friends
and the newest craze "The Bug"

It's been a fun 3 years. Wonder what the next years will include?

Cheers!

No Apples

Taking the advice of many I added a little first apples to The Bugs cereal.

Um... it's still a no go. He makes a face and immediately spits it out.

He acts like he's interested in eating and reaches for the spoon, but he says
"no way- if it is not in a bottle I'm not digging it!"

He's a tough bug!

Think Spring

Today...

started out good. The little guy let me snuggle him back to sleep at 4am and was able to lay down with him for another 45 minutes. That was a good 45 minutes. He usually won't lay down with me. He's ready to start the day.

Thinking we will take the camera with us when we walk Miles. See if we can find something that looks like spring!

I'm going to bake some of these yummies!

I'm going to use a chocolate cake mix because I couldn't fine a red velvet cake mix at the store last night. Has anyone seen a red velvet cake mix or know where to get one?

Half a Year

The Bug is a week away from being a Half Year Old!
25 Weeks!

What he's up to:
1. Trying to eat cereal.
2. Likes to lay on his side and watch basketball.
3. Trying to move away from being swaddled. For now leaving one arm out.
4. Drinking some formula- mom not able to keep up- needs a little help.
5. Sometimes when on belly will roll over to back.
6. Likes to watch and listen to Papa play guitar.
7. Can hold own bottle.
8. Likes being read to. Holds onto the book and tries to turn the pages.
9. Has discovered Miles. Likes to look at him and has to crank his head around to find him. Miles usually leaves the room once he realizes he's being watched.
10. Doing better about riding in the car.
11. Out growing more and more 3-6 month outfits. Headed mostly into 9 month.
12. At times will hold self up in sitting position but still very wobbly.
13. Likes anything that is yellow. Has a couple sun and star toys and those seem to be his favorites.
14. Working on getting some teeth- still none.

Toes

Not Much Was Eaten

The Bug had cereal. Well he tasted cereal. I don't think he actually ate any. It was fun and we will have to try again.

He pushed most of it out and was more interested in grabbing at the spoon.

Black not Red

After much debate and Josh starring at me with a look of hurry up all ready the All Star 3 Point something is starting soon- I went with the black ones.

Josh says "don't you have those same shoes at home? I swear I have seen those shoes at the house."

I say "No I don't have these shoes at home. Why would I want to buy them if I had them at home?"

When wondering if I should get red he says "don't you have red shoes?"

I say "yes I have red shoes but not this color of red!"

I'm thinking I have black shoes at home what's your point?

In the end I figure I will get more use out of the black ones and probably would have wished I had gotten black if I went with the red.

I feel that Dansko quality is changing a bit. I don't like the new heels they have on a lot of their shoes. I guess the husband and wife team got a divorce so the husband makes the Dansko side of the line and the wife makes a different side- cannot remember the name right now- it starts with an S. I like the old fashion Dansko and will continue to buy shoes that follow that pattern.

Can't wait!

I have been putting away $25 a pay check for a new pair of Dansko's.

I had a nice surprise yesterday when I realized (while balancing my checkbook) that I have enough to get them. I had noted a debit purchase twice so I don't have to wait until next pay day I have enough now!

I think I know the pair I'm getting... I will surprise you soon with a photo of what I decided to get!

I like my way of saving. It makes the purchase more special and I don't feel guilty dropping money on yet another pair of shoes.

I told Josh of my savings plan and he has since started doing the same thing for his next tatoo.

All I do is subtract $25 from my registry and note Clog $ and make a star in the section where you would note a check number... once I have the set amount I am ready to purchase! Now that I have the clog $ I think I'm going to keep going and save for Christmas! I know it's early but it's so easy and think of all the $$$ I will have to spend for Christmas gifts!

On a messy note- tomorrow will have photos of The Bug eating cereal for the first time. Can't wait to see the faces he makes!

Bed Bug

The Bug loves to hide his face. This is waking up from an afternoon nap.

Here's the bug in the pack.... we are liking the pack Grammie Sammie-

Uncle Joe sent him some Celtic Gear! He is getting ready for the playoffs! He likes to lay on the footstool and watch basketball. We figure watching Basketball can't be that bad for him... at least we hope not.

Obsessed

I cannot stop messing around with facebook.

If you have not joined I suggest not doing it unless you want to become addicted in a matter of seconds.

The morning is flying by and I am still in my pj's drinking the same (now cold) cup of coffee I poured an hour ago. I have to go and get something done... like maybe taking a shower.

Hopefully I will be back soon to post something interesting or if you are on facebook I will see you there! Ha.
