Little Starfish

I have signed the Bug up for swimming lessons... He is old enough he doesn't have to start out as an Angle Fish.

He will go every Tuesday and Thursday for a half hour for 5 weeks. Hopefully I can skip work a few times and see him. This will be Papa and his first of many adventures together.

I have to go the first time and take photos! I am so excited for him.

Today we got out my bike and did some circles in front of the house. He hadn't been in his bike seat since his birthday so we had to adjust all the straps! It was fun and hopefully this weekend will be nice and we can go on a bit longer ride.

THANK YOU KIM!!!!

I have to say thanks to Kim for making my raised flower beds. I wanted to help but found I spent my time making sure a certain little helper wasn't getting into the nails, playing with the re-bar, trying to get the saw or trying to escape out the gate!

I'm not sure who had the harder job.

Here is what we have so far...

This morning started out with Ben and I going to 7 Dees for compost. We ended up with compost, some sweet peas and a bag of soil that is nitrogen rich for the blueberries.

We saw the chickens. We covered almost every corner of the nursery- Ben kept calling them "doggie". Everything is a doggie now a days. We did find out their names are "Dottie" (close to Doggie) and "Chicky". They were fun to follow around. Very into scratching and looking at things.

Then around 1pm we headed to Lowes and got the material for the raised beds, came back home and got busy. Ben and I finished clearing up the corner of the yard and we planted the 3 blueberries Kim had been keeping for me. He took over their care when we moved into our apartment. They did really well in pots for 2+ years.

That paver you see in between the flower beds was in the space next the house where I planted a Hebe that I have had in pot for way to long. I think that is where I am going to grow my herbs. I usually keep the garbage cans there but think they need to find a new place to live.

I also planted a few sweet peas along the fence in various spots so there will splashes of color around the yard this spring/ summer.

After this post I am going to order the tomatoes I want from Burpee. I have to get them from Burpee because they are Burpee Exclusives.

I have also decided to grow sunflowers along the garage. I am so excited for this spring and summer. It's going to be a lot of fun!

Here is how are day ended- me trying to take photos of the plants.

They are blurry because I had this guy following me around crying because I wouldn't give him the camera.

Thank goodness he was so tired from not napping more than half an hour and all that gardening he is in bed fast asleep.

Now off to order plants!!

The Letter of the Day is "V"

We had a good day. The sun showed itself towards the end of the day. We were able to get out and play for awhile.

We made Black-eyed pea cakes without Adobo sauce (couldn't find the stuff to make it) and Kale for dinner... had mimosas during the day and some yummy no bake cheese cake for dessert.

We had a visit from a good friend.

We saw a bald eagle.

We took self portraits.

We played in the tub.

We had pancakes for breakfast.

We ate lots of blueberries.

We walked down a little path.

We laughed.

We played music.

We got flowers.

We looked at our seeds growing.

It was a good day.

I Heart U!

Valentine's this year is going to be handmade. I made a card for Josh from Ben and I-it's already sealed up so photos will have to come after the day...

Here is a peak at part of the bugs gift....

The white heart is a little off- it kind of bugs me- Josh says hearts aren't perfect... I want to think mine is.

I have two yummy desserts I want to make-

One is a no-bake cheese cake- we got a starter kit for Christmas and the other is from the Self Website... YUMMO!!!!

4 years!

Just realized my blog is 4 years old! I did the same thing last year- realized about 2 months later that my blog had a birthday... this time it was only a month before I realized.

I was looking at my first photos... wow they were bad. I have to say the digital camera sure helped in that department!

Well here's to many more years of fun and nonsense! I hope you enjoy my blog... sometimes I feel I'm saying a bunch of stuff that no one cares about-

hello is anyone out there?

Broke Ground!

There is this corner in the yard that has been bugging me ever since we moved in. When I am outside with the Bug I stare at the corner and try to figure out what needs to be there.

When I am in the house I look outside to the lonely corner and wonder what needs to be there.

Well today I couldn't take it any more. I came home early because Josh had an appointment. It wasn't raining so the Bug and I started digging. I squared off the corner. Basically followed where the grass was not really growing. The problem with the corner is there is ivy growing up the fence and there is a tree that hangs over the corner.

I don't think the tree is going to be that big of a problem in regards to blocking the sun because the sun comes from across the yard. The ivy might cause a problem. I'm trying to decide if I just cut it all off or try and manage it.

I'm thinking some rocks or some sort of boarder needs to be set up along the back side and then something along the front to one keep the pooka out and two to keep the child out of the area.

Tomorrow I am going to finish getting all the grass out of the space. It's pretty much done. Then this weekend get a few bags of compost/ top soil and work that in.

I'm thinking some early seeds- beets and salad mix will work while I figure out what I want to do with the space. Do I make it a veggie space or a flower space?

It felt good to dig in the dirt. My muscles haven't felt that burn in a while. The Bug had fun- unless he fell down of course then it kind of sucked. If he had dirt on his hands he would stick his hands in his mouth... I'm like it's not chocolate you want to lick off child!

He was quite dirty and had to get stripped down before going into the house.

I will try and take some before photos tomorrow... i had to charge the camera battery.

Here are some photos of today's play time... We tried the play dough again

but as you can see he would rather be banging on his papa's guitar than playing with silly play dough. Play dough is for babies (or Pooka's)! Rocking out is for toddlers!

do you like the bangs... i had to cut them so he could see but we think it might make him look more like a girl... maybe it was the pink sash we had tied around his waste! oops!

check out...

marymade bags!

My sister n' law has been making some fun things!

New Table

We got the bug a table just his size so he has a place to do his work... he is using the calculator to crunch some numbers...
