To Look a Lot Like Christmas.  We put up some decorations last weekend.  This weekend is on the busy side so I think we will get the tree next weekend.  Last year seems we got it to early and it didn't last. Seems by Christmas day it was pretty crunchy.

Just a cute photo of the Boy.

Bluster the Scentsy Plug In!  Warming Iced Pine.

Actually made on Thanksgiving.  Getting started on the Holiday Baking!

My Favorite ornament.  Nana gave us a bunch one year

His own tree in his room with all his special ornaments on it.

Lights all over give it a nice snuggly feeling

Turkey Day

We will spend Thanksgiving at home in our new house!  Exciting!

I didn't want to spend a lot of time dealing with a turkey so we are doing Cornish Hens in the crock pot.

other things on the menu....
Scalloped Potatoes
Mimosa's with Blood Orange Juice
Potato Sage Rolls from New Seasons
Cranberries- Local berries from Bandon, Oregon

I recently was given a box of old cookie cutters that were my Grandma's and then my Mom's.  I hid them from the Boy.  Well he discovered them the other night.  I knew if he had them all he would want to do was make cookies.  He didn't care that I had worked all day and it was 6pm.  I told him we would make cookies on Thanksgiving.  I have the day off and we can make them then.  I told him I didn't have all the ingredients.  He has asked every night when I get home if I got the ingredients and if we can make cookies.  I plan on using my Mom's recipe for Animal Cookies.  They end up being really soft cookies as they have buttermilk in them!

I guess cookies will be dessert unless I stop off and buy something.  I don't think we will get crazy and make a pie.

I'm grateful for my family and friends.  I hope all of you have a fun, safe day tomorrow.  I will be thinking of my Grandpa tomorrow when I watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!

Favorite Reads

I love reading books about cooking.  It's a cookbook with a story.  I love the insperation, the attention to detail that you don't think about when cooking.

Just found this one that I want to read.  This one has been on my list and have often thumbed through it while strolling the books at Costco.

Some favorites I have read in the past...

I also love going to the library and checking out cookbooks to lay in bed and thumb through. Falling asleep ready to dream of all the yummy stuff I want to make.

I actually love reading the books more than actually cooking the receipes.

I'm feeling the itch to pick up the knitting needles!  Trying to think of Christmas gifts for a couple people and thinking something knitted might be just the thing.

I haven't really been into knitting the last couple years.  I think the last thing I made was a hat for my mother n law.

There's a yarn store in downtown Gresham... maybe I need to check it out on my lunch tomorrow.

See if I can be inspired by some nice yarn.

Not running the 10K.  The cost to register was a little more than my budget can handle right now.  Looking at other options.  Maybe the Shamrock run in March.  It's a 5K so totally do able. Since I have ran it before I know I can do it again.  Just have to get more miles in before then.

Almost out of the rental.  A little more cleaning and the walk through and we are all done.

Not settled at the new place.  Still putting away boxes and getting things together.  Josh says we have 30 years so why rush.  The garage is a where the mess is hidden so if you walked into our home it would look nice and organized.  Open a closet or go into the garage and you might do damage to yourself.

Boy had a fun Halloween.  Got to go around the new hood and got some candy.  Not a lot of treaters visited us so we have lots of candy still around.

Falling back didn't really seem to bother me.  I am a little off when I leave work and it's pitch black out.
